A Memorial

For a long time I could not write or publish a blog post. 2017 was a difficult year. I've been thinking about writing an article lately and keep telling myself that I have nothing important to say. Instead of talking about crochet or knitting, I'll customize them a bit. This message will be a reminder of my brother.

On February 5, 2017, my 34-year-old brother died tragically. He left behind three children, his girlfriend, our parents, our sister, me and many other relatives and friends.

This is a daily struggle. Guilt is hard to deal with (everyone). I prefer to call and stay longer. This is the hardest part. All I hope is peace of mind for myself and for all who are struggling right now.

My biggest concern is my mother, her girlfriend and my sister. Death changes us forever. I hope it gets better with time. I face death regularly, but seeing a loved one so young ... is devastating.

He was a music lover and now I can't listen to much music.

He also loved UNC basketball ... that's what we shared. We are both huge Carolina fans. I watch the games and think how happy I would be if they could go all the way this year. Come on heels!

I want him to see in himself what we can all do and what we have done. He had so much to offer this world and the people he left behind.

Depression can be a silent killer. Participate in the life of those in trouble. Call more, visit more and stay. The feelings of guilt and remorse weigh heavily on those who remain.
