This weekend I made progress on my spinning coop model, practiced my turn, watched the Super Cup and made this new hat for Ireland. I got a lot of posts about owl hats, so I wanted to add details to many of the photos.
I have made some of these hats but none for Ireland. So I decided that what I really needed to do was learn how to do it right. It actually started out as a bacon hat, but became an owl because the roses ran out. He is not a pig, but he loves it anyway. He has a pig hat on his head, so I should probably make one anyway.

So I certainly made it bigger.
I also widened my eyes by adding a few rounds. The bigger the hat, the bigger the eyes should be.
Eyes (I used blue for rounds 1 and 2, then white for rounds 3-5)
Chapter 2

I also changed the edges. I wanted two colors around the lip and a fuller look. I recently got some comments asking how projects should be organized and completed. Basically, for the edges, I always add a circle of the same color before changing the contrast color. Changing the contrast color of the edges (as on the sides of the ears) does not make the edges as clean as possible.
Then I added an extra rounded skirt to this cap in blue. I worked on the back lakin to make the pink and blue combination cleaner (is that a word?)
Also, to keep your face clean, try to devote a lot of time to your eyes and nose. When sewing, work only under the first knitting of the hat so that the back is clean. You are not participating in the project. And if I'm not happy with my face, I'll do it again until I like it.
