Basket Burnout
This week I made three more... on fire
Several crochet knitters have asked me whether it would make a big difference to use an M or N hook instead of an L hook, which I prefer.
So here's the result...
The smaller one on the left is made with an L-shaped hook.
Medium with M and hooks
Straight with N-hook
You can really see the difference above. Hook N vs Hook L. I still prefer the L. The smaller basket is very sturdy and doesn't hang or move. It's so tight it almost stands on the handle (I'm exaggerating a bit)
I just don't like how the other two have to be mirrored to look like the photo... so I recommend Hook L.
I proceeded a little differently. I used the N crochet and added 6 more stitches on the body to make the shape more oval.

Other notes:
To answer another question... when knitting a hoop like this basket or hat, always remember that there is a front and a back. During manufacture, it is easy to turn the basket or hat over. Notice the difference in the appearance of the seams.
When knitting, remember that your stitches are always facing you when you are on the right side.
Many of the baskets I've seen are actually upside down. If you look at the second photo in this post, you can see the difference between the inside of the basket and the outside. When you're done, the top stitch of the last loop should point outward, not inward. Here's how to tell if you accidentally dropped the basket.
Hope this helps answer some questions :)
