3 super large balls of yarn (I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick on linen)
Hook size L (8.0 mm)
thread needle
A brief note on the ingredients:
I would recommend using a super large to create a stiff or durable texture. If you are using a lighter yarn, tie 3 or more strands together.
Do not use a larger hook. The seams should be tight so that the basket is stiff and upright. Make a fairly stiff knit (but try not to hurt your hands). My next basket will be made from double hemp (the thick kind you can get at Walmart). This thing is really a hand killer. But it is the most durable material you can use.

Note: You will hold two strands of yarn together.
Do not turn around when completing each round. I join every round. You can work in a solid spiral if you prefer to remove the seams. (If you decide to go for the seamless version, I suggest you work the bottom stitch and then work the body into a continuous loop or spiral, marking your first thread along the way)

Row 2: 2 hm in each. Connect with sl st. (16 hdc)
Row 3: 2 ch, hstb in same st, hstb in next st, (2 hstb in next st, hstb in next st) approx. Connect with sl st. (24 HD)
Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in the same paragraph, hdc in the next 2 paragraphs (2 hdc in the next paragraph, hdc in the next 2 paragraphs) approx. Connect with sl st. (32 HDC)
Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in the same paragraph, hdc in the next 3 paragraphs (hdc 2 in the next paragraph, hdc in the next 3 paragraphs) approx. Connect with sl st. (40 HDC)
Round 6: Ch 2, mma in same n, mma in next 4 n, (2 mma in next n, mma in next 4 n) approx. Connect with sl st. (48 hdc)
The next round will be the first row of the basket body. You will work on the back of each hdc.
7th line: First edition, Nakida under the line or ridge behind the first paragraph of the previous line. (A half-treble knit has a line or ridge at the back.) You will work below this line or ridge, not in an ordinary loop.
This will leave two buttonholes.

Rule 11: 1 hour SBN in the same paragraph and any paragraphs around it. Connect with sl st.
Round 12: Ch 2, hdc in the next paragraph and in each paragraph around it. Connect with sl st.
Rule 13: 1, work only the bottom hole, but in the same paragraph and in every paragraph around it. Connect with sl st.
You will make a pen on rd 14
Round 14: 2 tr, VPN on next 8 m at 7 o'clock, skip next 5 hours on next 19 m. 7 hours, skip the next 5 m Hdc in the next 10 tablespoons. Connect to sl st

Tour 7: K 2, hdc on the same road. Hdc in the next 5 seconds. (2 hours in next st, 5 hours in next st) approx, connect with sl st. (56 hdc)
Round 8: work below the line or rib at the back of the double crochet hook, draw each paragraph around it. This loop creates a seam (described above)

Round 13: ray loop
Round 14: HDC round
Round 15: Saturday round.
Row 16: SBN in the back ring only
Row 17: 2 sts, NP in next 9 sts, 9 sts, skip 8 sts, NP in next 20 sts, 9, skip next 8 sts, NP in next 9 sts Connect to sl st.
Rule 18: circle sketch, 10 sketches in 9 spaces (not in each paragraph). Join and complete.
