Chunky Crocheted Basket Pattern
I finally posted a crochet basket pattern. Thanks for all the comments and emails. I hope you enjoy the finished model and project as much as I do. (Scroll down for a larger basket pattern)
Material
Yarn 3 super large skins (I used Lion brand wool is thick and fast in linen)
Hook size L (8.0 mm)
Needle thread
A quick note about the material:
I would recommend using Super Bulky to create a stiff or strong texture. If you are using fine thread, you will need to tie 3 or more threads together.
Do not use a large hook. The seams must fit snugly so that the basket is stiff and straight. Work tight enough (but try not to hit the hand too hard). My next basket will be made of linen (the kind of thick you will find at Walmart). This thing is really a hand killer. But this is the most powerful thing you can use.

Tip: Tie two strands of thread together.
Don't flip at the end of each round. I do every turn. You can work a continuous spiral if you prefer to remove the seams. (If you use the continuous version, I recommend that you work the stitches down, then work the body in a continuous or spiral loop, marking your first stitch.)

Round 1: 8 hook to the 2nd cat
Round 2: 2 hm every st. Join MC. (16 HDC)
Round 3: ch 2, but in the same st, but after the st, (2 tr after the st, but after the st) ca. Join MC (24 hours)
Round 4: ch 2, but in the same st, but after 2 sts, (2 sts after st, but after 2 sts) approx. Join mc (32hc)
Rnd 5: ch 2, but in the same st, next 3 sts, but, (next 2 but 3 next sts) approx. Join mc (40hdc)
Rnd 6: ch 2, but in the same st, next 4 sts, but, (next 2, but next 4 sts) ca. Join MC (48 HDC)
The next round will be the first row of the body of the basket. They will work behind any HDC.
Rnd 7: 1 ch, sc or nail under the line behind the first level of the previous round. (The half double crochet has a line or crest behind the stitch). You will be working under that line or ridge, not in a regular cycle.
Leave two loops from this point
Create a seam that separates the bottom and body of the basket
Keep working on sc. Join the MCs.
Rnd 8: ch 2, htr on the next phase and around each phase. Join MC
Round 9: Ch 1, work in back loop only, sc in same st and every st nearby. Join MC
Rnd 10: Ch 2, mma in the next st and on each nearby stage. Join MC
Rnd 11: Ch 1. BS in the same st and almost every st. Join MC
Rnd 12: Ch 2, htr on the next phase and around each phase. Join MC
Round 13: Ch 1, work in back loop only, sc in same st and work in every st around. Join MC
You made a handle in 14 rounds
Rnd 14: 2 ch, htr in the next 8 stitches. Move on to Chapter 7, the next 5 things. HDC in the next 19 points. Move on to Chapter 7, the next 5 things. HDC in the next 10 points. Join MC
Rnd 15: ch, same sc and next 8 sts. 8 sc Work under ch-space (do not cast off in st). Sc in the next 19 stitches. Work 8 sc under ch-space 7 sc in the next 10 sts.

I made a large basket ... I like a large size (I have attached a photo for a large basket)
You will go up one round down.
Rnds 1-6: see instructions above
Rnd 7: Ch 2, hdc alike. HDC in the next 5 points. (2 hours to the next st, 5 hours to the next st) Approximately, join the sl st. (56 HDC)
Round 8: Knit under the line or ridge behind the htr, sc almost every cent. This loop creates a seam (described above)
For the larger sizes, I have added 3 rows to the body of the basket. (If you need more detailed instructions on how to get started and participate in each round, see the details of each round for the small baskets.)
Rnd 9: Round HDC
Rnd 10: Sc's turn
Rnd 11: Just turn Sc in the back ring
Rnd 12: Round HDC
Rnd 13: Sc. Giro
Rnd 14: Round HDC
Rnd 15: Sc. Giro
Rnd 16: Sc only in the rear ring
Rnd 17: 2 ch, skip hm, 9 ch, 8 sts in the next 9 sts, skip hm 20 next sts, 9 ch, next 8 sts, hmmm in the next 9 sts with ma
Rnd 18: round sc, work 10 sc under buttonhole ch-9 (not in every st). Join and that's it.
