DIY Dining Table

I know I haven't been here lately. I'm too late to read my blog and my blogs. Do-it-yourself projects made me tired. I touched a little, but not much. I already have two projects, but I still can't participate. Today I am sharing with you Michael from Ireland and the DIY project I completed on Saturday.

Dining room

We have plenty of space in the living room and I thought the table would be perfect.

I found some of my favorites on Pinterest and off I went. Michael works with a boy with a chainsaw, so we bought him some firewood. On Thursday Michael came home with some 7 inch long and 7 inch wide candles.

About a week ago I ordered a cast steel hairpin leg from hairpinlegs.com and went to Michael Lowes and got 2x4s, sandpaper and #10.

Friday morning, Michael sewed the 2x4 frame, and I went to Lusata for clean feet. I scrubbed the raw steel legs and dusted them with a clear matte coating to protect them from rust. While Michael worked on his feet, he flipped the top boards over and glued the frame to the boards. Around 10:00 p.m. we started sanding and by 11:00 p.m. we were ready to place a spare layer of minwax poly on the table. I don't buy regular minwax poly because spare poly is best used with a dining table so water and food rings don't stain the wood. Basically, it is well sealed and durable. Ordinary polycarbonate side table, coffee table, etc. Designed for such furniture.

We finished the first layer of polyester at midnight. That's why my photos are so bad.

Saturday morning we turned around and walked inside...and scared!

Not perfect, but I love it. I love these legs (and they were mid-century modern).

Final sizes:
78 inches
Width 36 inches
2.5 inches thick or deep

Materials:
Wood for the top (we used five 7-8" boards)
2x4s for frame
№10 screw (top 2" as long as wheel is 2.5")
Sandpaper
28" four leg hook (3 tines) Standard 28" table height
Minwax poly spur
Indoor/outdoor transparent matte varnish (for the coating of the feet)

Equipment used:
Green abrasive pads (for foot abrasions)
Sandpaper
Sandpaper
Saw (we used a metric saw)
Practice
Of course, the ribbon size.

We still need to put another layer of sand and silt on top. We plan to buy three Eames chairs on one side of the table and a hairpin bench on the other side.

I hope my next post will be about a crochet project I haven't shared yet. I'll ask permission today and see how long I have to wait. I'm very happy to share this with you, but I have to be patient.

I had a fun week!
