DIY Dining Table
I know I haven't been there lately. I am really behind in my blogging and blogging. Do-it-yourself projects carried me away. I crocheted, but not a lot. I've completed some projects but I can't share them yet. Today I'm sharing a DIY project that Michael and I completed on Saturday in Ireland.dinner table
We have a lot of empty space in the living room and I thought the table would be perfect.
I found something I liked on Pinterest, and it went from there. Michael works with a guy who owns a sawmill, so we got some firewood from him. On Thursday, Michael came home with pine boards about 7 feet high and about 7-8 inches wide.
About a week ago I ordered raw steel bobby pins from hairpinlegs.com and Michael went to Lowes and bought some 2x4 sandpaper and №10 nails.
Friday morning Michael built a 2x4 tire and I drove to Lowes to get a clean coat for my feet. I wiped down my feet with raw steel and sprayed them with a clean matte finish to protect them from rust. While I worked with my feet, Michael flipped the top boards over and secured the frame to the boards. Around 10:00 p.m. we started sanding and by 11:00 p.m. we were ready to apply Minwax Spar Poly to the table top. I didn't use regular Minwax Poly because Spar Poly is best used on dining tables to prevent water spots on wood and food rings. Basically, it closes better and is more durable. The regular bar is designed for furniture such as coffee tables, coffee tables, etc.
We finished the first layer of polyethylene at midnight. That's why my photos are so bad.
Saturday morning we twisted the top and pulled the tabs...and voila!
It's not perfect at all, but that's why I love it so much. I love these legs (and they're all mid-century modern, really).
Measures completed:
78 inches
Width 36 inches
2.5" thick or deep.
Materials:
Wood for the top (we used five 7-8 boards).
2x4 for frame
№ 10 screws (2" of our deck with a 2.5" tire)
Sandpaper
Four 28" hair legs (3 feet) 28" is the standard height for a table
Minwax Spar Poly
Indoor/outdoor clean coat (to wear the feet)
The tool used:
Green cleaning pads (for cleaning feet)
bands
sandpaper (different sounds)
Saw (we used a miter saw)
exercises
And of course, roulette
I hope my next post will be about a crochet project, which I haven't had a chance to share yet. I'll ask permission today and see how long I have to wait. I'm happy to share this with you, but I have to be patient.
Good week!
