Still Trying to Customize Hat Sizes

Yes, I am still trying to fit the cap size. Over the past few months, I've received a lot of comments and questions about hat sizing. It is not possible to give an exact number of stitches because we are all associated with different criteria. The charts are great, but they don't tell us when to stop rising. This has always been my problem with gifts. Whenever I do something for Ireland, I put it on her head and see how it fits. But when you have to give a gift, it's hard to imagine.

For my experience, I decided to take all the Irish hats I had been making since birth. She compared her hat to the pictures she was wearing. I looked at the dates to see how old he was. Here is how I measured the dimensions.

It's a generic plan, but it's still very important...better than nothing. The dimensions shown in the table are the size of the circle you should have when selecting. When you get the right amount, stop adding and keep adding evenly.

The diameter of the old circle

Newborn 4 inches

3-6 months 5.5 inches

9-12 months 6-6.5 inches

24 months 6.5-6.75 inches

Small and small 7 inch

Adult female 7.25-7.5 cm

For example, if you are making a beanie for a 12-month-old baby, add it until you have a circle that is 6-6.5 inches in diameter, then knit each circle evenly without adding.

The hat in the photo above is for a one-year-old. As you can see, its circumference is exactly 6 inches.

The length of the ending depends on the age

full length life

Newborn 5 inches

3-6 months 6-6.5 inches

9-12 months 7 inches

24 months 7-7.5"

Infants and Toddlers 7.5 - 8 inches

Adult female 8.5-9 cm

big adult 10"

The blue hat is too high for a 12 month old so I have to pull myself up a few more inches.

This green hat is for young women or older, so I'll go about 9 inches.

Edit: If you make earflaps, the length will go down a bit.

Of course, these measurements are not accurate for every child and not for every adult. I made hats for older women over 10 inches. These are general measures, designed to help a little, not a blind attempt to make a non-conceptual hat :D

I hope this helps you.

Good week!
