Still Trying to Customize Hat Sizes
Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either. Looks like BT isn't for me either. In recent months, I have received many comments and questions about the size of the hat. Since we all knit with different tensions / sizes, it is impossible to give the exact number of stitches. The graphics are good, but you didn't tell us when we should stop improving. This has always been my problem with gifts. If I do something for Ireland, I'll keep it in mind and see how it fits and then adapt from there. But when it comes to giving gifts, it's hard to guess.
I decided to use all the Irish hats I have worn since birth in my experiment. I compared it to a picture of her in a hat. I looked at the date to determine how old she was when she wore it. This is how you measure size.
This is a simple chart, but it's still very useful ... better than nothing. The measurements shown in the table show that you should have the shape of your circle as you get older. When it reaches the desired shape, stop adding, then sprinkle evenly.
The diameter of the age circle .
Newborn 4 inches
3-6 months 5.5 inches
9-12 months 6-6.5 inches
24 months 6.5-6.75 inches
Children and toddlers 7 inches
Adult female 7.25-7.5 inches
For example, if you make a 12-month cap ... increase it to 6-6.5 inches and continue each round without increasing the stitches evenly.
The cap in the photo above is for a baby about one year old. As you can see, the circle is exactly 6 inches.
The length of the finish will also vary with age.
Long service life
Newborn 5 inches
3-6 months 6-6.5 inches
9-12 months 7 inches
24 months 7-7.5 inches
7.5 to 8 inches for infants and young children
Adult females 8.5-9 inches
Large adults 10 inches
The blue hat is for a 12 month old baby, so I had to add an extra inch.
This green hat is for teenage or adult women, so I'll stop at 9 inches.
Edit: Reducing the length of your earrings will reduce the length a bit.
Of course, these measures are not suitable for all children and adults. I made a hat for a big adult lady's head 10 inches long. To give it a simple measure a little help, instead try to make a blind cap without a trace: D
I hope this works.
Have a nice week!
