Hilde’s Flower Blanket
It will be an individual post and an individual design. I've been working on it for several months now. And it just ended a few weeks ago. At first I came up with a color pattern, but then I decided to create another purple pattern using SkipJes Hurl. Hilde's favorite color.
I have a friend. Her name is Hilde Tindlund. It comes from Norway.
She contacted me a few years ago when I started knitting. She fell in love with knitting and knitted mandalas and made many of her own. I don't remember how we talked now. If I wrote to Hilda, or if she wrote to Ravelry. But for some reason, we started talking a lot, and then he became my virtual best friend.

I talked to him about new projects and he helped me with testing and graphic design. And then she became the administrator of the Lila Bjorn Facebook group.
She was one of the designers of Scheepja Rosette CAL. It was created by a black and white midnight motif on a colored thread. Also an example of Shafaga in our tribe.
Initially, Hild Rosetta was the person behind the scenes who revived and generally did the design. It was a complex project with different techniques and details, and as a designer I was very skeptical. Hilde encouraged, supported and assisted as a tester in solving some design problems.

During CAL 2019, one of the participants (sorry, I don't remember the name) played with a pattern and made a quilt in the same color as the front column stitch instead of the tapestry technique. The results were amazing! And then I realized that I need to draw another mandala with the same effect.

I have an idea for a large textured mandala design. It took two years to implement this idea. But hey! Here, finally!

Surprisingly, the back of the mandala looks just as pretty as the one on the right, making this a retro round quilt!

Unfortunately, Hilde didn't see the secret look or the full design. He has been battling a serious illness for the past two years and we have had no contact since. The last time we spoke was before Christmas. I wanted to tell him that the book "The History of the Sea" was going to his house. And a month later, last night, I received a text message from your son that Hild is no longer with us...
This is a special post for a specific person. My dear friend Hilda, who has done a lot for me as a textile designer. Unfortunately, we did not meet in real life. But a few weeks ago he came to me in a dream. He was healthy and happy. And I will bring this happy image of Hilde into my life. You will always be in my heart.
I call this new floral design Hilde. I created a purple pattern. In his favorite colors.

The model is designed for advanced beginners. I photographed the progress, but it was difficult to stitch them together with the camera because the mandala was too big. So the progress photos show the hardest places and basically you have to follow the written instructions, it shouldn't be too hard.
The model uses only double grid layers and front columns (and their variants). So there really is no complicated strategy. Both quilts (including Scheepjes Metropolis and Whirl) were large enough for a quilt. Or a baby/baby blanket.
Measurements after blocking are approximate. 145cm/57" for metro and 132cm/52" for rotation. Both are made with a 3mm punch.
And here's another Quilt version of Laura Jackson (aka emtaemombo ) with Hurles.
