A Friendly Reminder
The title was supposed to be "A Kind Reminder to Most People, Not a Kind Reminder to Some."In the last few months I have received several messages from fellow crocheters. They tell me that different people are using my photos for profit.
Especially one of those Hello Kitty ones. I think I should start using a watermark to prevent this, or block photos to prevent them from being copied and saved.
Some knitting artists try to make money by taking these photos and posting them on their websites or in their online stores.
With that in mind, I decided to put my policy on my samples and photos.
I permit the sale of products made from the patterns found here.
Please contact me if you sell products made from my pattern.
I do not allow my photos to be used.
You are private and use each photo illegally for personal gain or use that does not belong to you.
I'm starting to block photos and tag some photos.
I will report the use of my photos to anyone who does not delete them when asked to do so
I spend extra time taking good pictures... so if they get stolen I'll give you some tips I use myself... for the uninitiated.
If you want to get great photos for your website:
Never take photos at night
Don't use flash...it will spoil the original color
Always use natural light, but not direct sunlight.
Get rid of background clutter
Use neutral colors on the back of colored items.
Take photos outdoors or in a room with plenty of natural light.
Good photos, no cameras (you can use your phone and take good pictures in good light)
Stop using flash
And of course only use your photos... Never steal a photo and don't think it's ok or people will never see it because it always will be.
Of course, I don't mind posting my photos on social media as long as they don't link to mine and not someone else's page.
Make some information for other people, one person using my photo and at least 4 or 5 other knitting/designer photos to their benefit. After saying this four times, he refused to take my picture. try to be good
So check Looptyloopz to see if your image is being used.
He also has a Facebook page called Luptilupas. Then he switched off. My goal is not to prevent him from owning the shop, but to use everyone's labor to my own advantage.
There are some photos I can get of other knitters... striped mittens and hats side 1/side 2... saw two in there.
I told him twice that I would blog about it and give him a couple of weeks to fix it (but he didn't).
I hate to write negative things here, but I was wrong. I spend a lot of time changing my shots and don't appreciate it when people steal because they didn't take the time to get a good shot.
