A Memorial

I haven't been able to blog or publish a blog post for a long time. 2017 has been a tough year so far. I recently thought about writing a post and told myself I didn't have anything important to say. Instead of talking about crochet or knitting projects, I'm going to get a little personal. This post serves as a warning to my brother.

February 5, 2017 Sadly my 34 year old brother passed away. He left behind three children, his girlfriend, our parents, our sister, myself, and many other relatives and friends.

It is a daily struggle. Guilt (for all of us) is hard to face. If I had called I would have stayed longer. This is the hardest part. All I can hope for is peace of mind for myself and anyone else who is struggling right now.

What worries me the most is my mother, my boyfriend and my sister. Death changes us forever. I hope it gets less raw over time. I work with death on a regular basis, but to see a loved one go at such a young age...it's just devastating.

I think of the past, happy times and their children.

What do you want to do with me?

He is a music lover and now I don't listen to much music.

He also likes UNC basketball…we share it. We are both big fans of Carolina. I watched the match and thought how happy I would be if they made it to the final this year. Go up the hill!

I just hope you see for yourself what we all can and can't do. He had so much to give to this world and to the people he left behind.

Depression can be a silent killer. Participate in the lives of those who are struggling. More phone calls, more visits and reunions. Guilt and regret weigh on Assad.
