Stripey Hanging Basket
Can you believe I finally posted a pattern for this basket? I used it to hold all the hexagons I knit a while back.
Okay... let's get to the good part.
ingredients
Yarn in wool strength
I use Vanna's Choice Lion Brand. Obviously I used a different color. For some colors I used Vanna's Choice Baby.
hook size G
thread the needle
stitches used
Chain
easy knitting
double hate
sliding stitch
Double knit stand
Crochet Standing Ankle
Invisible connection
SS Standing: Begin this stitch with a slip knot. YES, then put the hook in the hole. YES and go through m. YES and works as a normal domain controller. Tighten the starter tail. You will weave it later.
RLS Standing: Start with a slip knot, then insert the needle into the st. YES and go through m. Turn through both rings, sc. Tighten the starter tail. You will weave it later.
These two points may seem confusing at first. Basically you get rid of the chain.
Caliber doesn't matter
If you work free you get more than mine. I work a little tight
example
Chapter 4
Row 1: Crochet 9 sc in the 4th chain stitch from the crochet hook. The 3 missing stitches count as the first ch on the row. join sl. (10sn)
Row 2: Color 3 (counts as the first point). Sc in same st, 2 sc in each st. Stick to invisible pairing method. (20 pieces)
Row 3: Different colors, use a constant st with a constant st for the first st DC on the same street. DC on the next street. (2 sc, sc) in a circle. Connect using the invisible connection method. (30 pieces)
With the DC method and the invisible connection, you can start any new loop at any time in the work. I start each round with a different area of my basket...just to make sure everything is smooth.
Think constant DC current and invisible connections for the next few turns.
Row 4: (2 sc, sc in next 2 sts) in rounds. (40 pieces)
Row 5: (2 kb, kb in the next 3 sts) in rounds. (50 units)
Row 6: (2 kb, kb in next 4 sts) in rounds. (60 pieces)
Row 7: (2 sc, sc in next 5 sts) in rounds. (70cc)
Row 8: (2 sc, sc in next 6 sts) in rounds. (80 pieces)
Row 9: (2 sc, sc in next 7 sts) in rounds. (90cc)
Now the floor is ready. You have 90 DC.
Row 11: change color, crochet under both sts (as usual), start with method g. SSN in each cycle. Connect invisible connections.
Rows 12-28: Repeat row 11.
Row 29: Change color and start permanent single crochet method. RLS in the next 44 tbsp. Chapter 22, RLS in the next st and the remaining stitches. Don't participate and don't quit.
30th row: 1 loop in each loop and chain stitch. I knit this loop tight enough to pull the lace off a bit.
Complete with invisible connections.
Weave all the ends together with a wool needle.
Now you can hang it up or put it down. I still have many threads left after completing this project. I used my leftovers to make squares and hexagons.
Leave me a comment if you have any questions. I will do my best to answer. I'm working hard to improve it.
If you choose to do so, please let us know. I'll be sharing the outline on Ravelry soon.
